Strategic Account Manager - New York, Central Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Wisconsin

Corporate Chicago, IL (Onsite) Full-Time

The Strategic Account Manager is responsible for the enhancing sales for True Value's key growth partners (store chains, affiliates) in New York, Central Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Cultivates key executive contacts within accounts to create strong business relationships. Responsible for account profitability and growth with concentration on handled purchases. In conjunction with leadership, effectively develop business growth strategies and plans; develop options, solutions unique to each business to drive business performance.

Responsibilities: (May perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned).

1.       Serves as the principal liaison between the customer’s executive management team and True Value to build and enhance our business relationship. Recognizes and rapidly respond to customer needs and competitor activities. Resolves problems, expedites solutions, and communicates relevant information as it pertains to Logistics, IT, Merchandising and Retail Operations.

2.       Develops business strategies to improve profitability for the customer and True Value. Identifies and converts sales opportunities from other suppliers to increase sales. Recommends product assortments (planograms) and/or partners with customer’s buyers. Works closely with True Value product merchants/buyers to offer assortments focused on specific customer needs. Develops and analyzes product mix and Point Of Sales (POS) data, understands market trends, manages forecasting, prepares proposals, and makes effective presentations to customers.

3.       Makes effective presentations and install new customers that meet the criteria of True Value’s business model and contribution to margin goal.

4.       Coordinates and participates in customer’s shows and events including communication, planning, and follow-up with vendors.

5.       Provides consultative services to customers that support future retail locations reflective of customers business planning efforts.

Education & Experience:

•        Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.

•        5-7 years of experience, preferably in Communications, Marketing, Merchandising, Retail, Sales, or similar industry.

•        Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
