Job Description

The Sr. Manager Infrastructure Engineering is responsible for the overall technical design and delivery of standards-based infrastructure and platform solution designs by interfacing with all IT technical teams and functional process subject matter experts to architect, design and deliver platform and infrastructure solutions meeting the growing and evolving technical needs of True Value. Ensures that the IT Infrastructure is sufficiently robust, scalable and efficient in delivering application availability and support services.

This is a hands-on role that will require the direct involvement in all decisions and work necessary to operate a dynamic and evolving technology environment. The candidate will work closely with all IT departments and business sponsors to effectively design and implement technology solutions across the entire Infrastructure platform for True Value. Thgis role will require detailed interaction and coordination with vendors. Technical solutions include but are not limited to computing, networking, security, storage a backup, virtualization, data centers, voice, and end user computing. Required to work with and direct technology partners and vendors to successfully deliver world-class Infrastructure technology solutions and services for True Value. The Sr. Manager of Infrastructure Engineering is responsible for planning and estimation of the technical aspects of projects. This individual will contributr to all active projects and will also provide technical guidance and support to the operations teams. 

Position Description

  • Provide technical leadership, direction and establish standards for new capabilities  for True Value's Infrastructure, including, systems, network and storage technologies, relative to new projects and strategic initiatives.  Interfacie and collaborate with all IT departments, business partners, service delivery partners, and vendors, to design and implement technology solutions for True Value.
  • Apply enterprise design methodology and best practices to define business, application, data, and infrastructure solution approaches, recommendations, and considerations.
  • Review new and existing customers' business objectives, workflows, and functional and technical requirements executing design and architecture processes within Information technology.
  • Create cost-justified Solution Design Documents and detailed Bill of Materials to aid quotes and purchasing activities.
  • Plan, direct and coordinate the desgin, installation and connectivity of the systems and newtwork infrastrucutre to ensure the application stability
  • Govern and support established platform and infrastructure standards. 

    Gaining stakeholder buy-in and support for technology solutions based on technology roadmaps and strategies.
  • Interface with global lines of business in gathering and developing strategic technology requirements in order to support and maintain strategic technology roadmaps.
  • Interface with internal and external subject matter experts and industry leaders to evolve global platform and infrastructure architectures and solutions.
  • Produce enterprise-level designs for key global initiatives and following those through to implementation through collaboration with project, engineering and support teams.
  • Conduct reviews, assessments, and document recommendations in reports, presentations and white papers.
  • Work in a managed services environment and provide though leadership and oversight to outsourced technology towers and resources.
  • Work in a team environment with a “can do” attitude capable of overcoming difficult challenges.
  • Present solution designs to senior management, operational, and technical audiences, Identifing opportunities to innovate, extend and enhance infrastrucure technologies and platforms. Justify expenditures through business cases, and ROI/TCO calculations.

Position Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in managing Infrastructure Engineering teams in a coorporate environment
  • Expert level knowledge of Networking, Voice & Data, and IT hardware technology
  • Experience in a retail environment highly preferred
  • Experience managing staff members, contractors, and outsourced service providers
  • Experience budgeting, planning, and forecasting departmental finance plans
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline
