Job Description

Responsible for providing operational expertise to rental retailers, operators and owners in order to increase their rental revenues and profits. The Rental Operations Consultant has the overall responsibility for prospecting for new franchises, increasing the handled and direct ship business for True Value Stand Alone rental stores and consulting on an “as needed basis” for in-store True Value Rental participants. This role is designed to actively build the various brand names associated with True Value Rental business and insure participants are delivering the brand standards outlined in our franchise agreements.

Position Description

Collaboratively conduct business reviews with rental retailers/operators within the territory to analyze current store sales and profitability. Develop and assist in the execution of business plans that identify specific measurable actions to improve the ongoing business operations as outlined in the rental Cost of Doing Business (CODB) Study as a “high profit” rental store. Areas of expertise include: merchandising inventory/fleet selection, inventory/fleet management, financial management vs. CODB analysis, marketing/advertising planning, best practices, Party and Event rental sales, operations and management, store layout, etc. Grow rental retailers/operators sales dollars to a level that meets annual goals.

Prospect and collaborate with Rental Sales Manager and Retail Operations team regarding all store expansions/remodels, relocations, branch stores, investors and conversions. Implementing programs with new members signed should contribute to the overall member retention goal for assigned territory.

Lead and facilitate the merchandising recommendations. Define product/fleet recommendations suited for the marketplace along with implementation plans for each member location. Provide the Members with product/equipment knowledge, programs, services and benchmarks related to the same. Deliver competitive product and wholesale information to Rental Product Merchant to ensure that the TV program remains competitive.

Collaborate with the Rental Sales Manager to develop and implement retention plans for key markets including alternative action plans for any at risk rental operators.

Position Qualifications

Minimum Type and Years of Related Experience Required:

  • Three to five years of related experience required
  • Party and Event rental sales and operations management experience required
  • Knowledge of Rental industry required
  • Knowledge of party and event rental operations required
  • Ability to read and understand income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements
Minimum Education Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
