Job Description

The Project Manager - Logistics is responsible to establish a strategy for and implementation of assigned bin-sizing, location optimization projects, and True Value's warehouse management system, (ADS). Facilitates, manages, schedules, coordinates, designs, and tracks status of assigned projects and duties to optimize all RDCs Inbound and Outbound functions and reduce expense in the supply chain.

The successful candidate will work from their current DC and must be able to travel to RSC and other RDCs. Must be able to travel 75% (which can vary based on priorities/initiatives)

Position Description

  • Responsible for assigned bin-sizing projects design, coordination, scheduling, and tracking.
  • Works with and assists the DCs in the True Value network to develop and implement more effective storage and fulfillment strategies.
  • Meets regularly with Logistics Systems Project Managers and discusses new projects and assignments, and reports status of existing projects and assignments.
  • Meets regularly with Logistics staff and discusses project designs, scheduling and implementation techniques. Manages and develops with other Logistics Managers and associates, the requirements for staff and facility resources.
  • Manages and coordinates the development and interface of systems; Manages and coordinates the development of new or enhanced system's functionality within the RDC. Performs same duties for issues and questions; Co-ordinates between existing legacy systems and new software systems.
  • Develop baseline location systems and warehouse management control table parameters for the RDCs in the network to enhance RDC performance.
  • Prepares, schedules and conducts internal warehouse management system training. Conducts webinars for all RDCs.
  • Facilitates project team meetings and Prepares project documents and materials. Establishes and maintains effective working relationship with cross-functional teams.

Position Qualifications

  • Minimum Education Requirements: Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of related work experience required, preferable in a leadership role at a distribution center with experience successfully leading initiatives that span multiple distribution centers.
  • Proficient knowledge of Windows Pro, Windows XP Pro; Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficient knowledge of query application development; database systems; and technical knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems. e.g. ADS.
  • Knowledge of supply chain and inventory management, including systems/technology and general processes.
  • Proven ability to work independently without day-to-day oversight and capability to operate effectively with substantial latitude for independent action or decision making.
  • Capability to comprehend big picture goals, objectives, and business knowledge to ensure project/task alignment. Ability to apply knowledge to communicate program benefits across all levels to achieve buy-in.
  • Exceptional communication skills - both written and verbal.
