A company with competitive wages, great medical benefits and an industry-leading 401K plan?  True Value Manufacturing, a leading manufacturer of architectural paints, aerosols & paint applicators is seeking a Lab Technician to work in our R&D Lab.  

Ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting the Chemist/Senior Chemists in new product development, product maintenance, raw material evaluations, competitive evaluations, and general paint testing.  

Position Description

  • Makes experimental batches in the Lab following exact procedures/directions for the development of new products and the maintainance of current products.
  • Evaluate new raw materials for their applicability of use in paints by preparing sample paints and testing them versus control paints for physical and chemical properties.
  • Characterize competitive paints for performance properties by being proficient in completing a large variety of R&D tests which include both film properties, application and chemical analysis.
  • Keep the supervising Chemist informed of project progress by keeping a detailed laboratory notebook on all work performed and the test results.  Daily verbal communication is also required.
  • Assist in the benchmarking of all batches produced by recording and examining data related to the batches. 

Position Qualifications


  • Computer skills with Microsoft Office. Must be a competent user of Excel. 
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Follow basic procedures with little need to vary routine and will escalate issues outside of known procedures
  • Analysis skills to identify problem areas and formulate recommendations to solve problems.
  • Ability to manage multiple time sensitive situations. 
  • Ability to work with all levels of management in resolving Member issues.
