Job Description

Own the quality assurance, testing processes, and documentation associated with the development of major software applications at True Value.  Development will be conducted through both internal application development teams and 3rd party software vendors to meet corporate objectives while simultaneously providing stable technological operating systems that meet the needs of the user community.

Position Description

  • Responsible for the creation, management, direction, and implementation of customized test strategies, test plans, and test cases based on leading edge techniques and statistical evaluation.
  • Responsible for using alternative and various methods and definitions of the test strategy, test plans, and test cases based upon the unique characteristics of any project.
  • Coordinates all test requirements and schedules with the project/program manager, architects, and key development leads.
  • Develops the test strategy and test process for identification and development of the test data and manages the data through the established and agreed upon testing cycles.
  • Establishes roles, reporting relationships, and responsibilities within the Quality Assurance Group through collaboration with the project/program manager for each major project that is undertaken.
  • Owns and drives the review and resolution of software quality control defects/problems/concerns with customers, test personnel and other project personnel.
  • Provides and maintains a workable test and defect tracking environment with the applicable tools for all major projects.
  • Communicates testing status of projects, test personnel, customer concerns to the program/project manager and owns the management for overall test issue/risk/effectiveness through the testing process.
  • Develops, reviews, and publishes standards, policies and procedures for all functions involved with or related to the quality and testing of major application projects at True Value.
  • Collaborates with the IT Leadership to implement new test technologies.
  • Provides periodic reports on industry and technical trends to peers, subordinates, and the IT leadership team. 
  • Periodically inspects completed quality control checklists, forms and other documents for conformance to prescribed standards.
  • Institutes a comprehensive quality assurance process in line with the True Value SDLC that includes requirements gathering and associated traceability for test plans and test cases.
  • Influences changes to the True Value SDLC to keep current with new trends within the quality assurance arena.  Identifies templates and content descriptions for all artifacts that are produced as part of the quality assurance process established within True Value.
  • Assists in strategic development and tactical deployment of project plans to minimize cost to the corporation while providing adequate solutions across the True Value enterprise.

Position Qualifications

Minimum Type and Years of Related Experience Required:

  • More than ten years of related experience required
  • Quality assurance experience required
  • Ability to quickly learn enough about the system to determine the amount and quality of testing needed for each phase of the project
  • Strong project and time management skills required
Minimum Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
