Job Description

Act as a liaison between business units, Information Technology, and third party providers to identify and deliver system services and solutions to meet business objectives. Works with various functional areas to assure systems are operating per business requirements. Program managers develop and oversee scheduling, budget, and technical performance of programs and complex projects. Responsibilities may include proposal development, contract negotiation and contract compliance. Program managers ensure master plans and schedules are followed, developing solutions to program or project challenges, directing others for successful completion of project on time and on budget, and reporting to senior management progress, issues and risks.

Individuals in this role must understand how to deliver projects in a structured manner and have great organizational, communication, financial, and relationship management skills.

Position Description

Business Relationship Management - Portfolio Management:

  • Establishes relationships with business units to identify services\solutions to facilitate business objectives.
  • Create a strategic view of business objectives and how various projects fit within those objectives defining these within a portfolio of services and projects. Ensure th portfolio is aligned to business strategy with the highest benefit.
  • Responsible for working with business units to establish prioritization criteria and process to make decisions. Work with business units to document Business Case benefits and prepare for review by IT Governance committee.
  • Drive efficiency of global business processes to achieve re-use where possible.
  • Provide thought-leadership to business units on technologies and services available to facilitate\enable business objectives to be met.
  • Develops RFP (Requests for Proposals) for services\solutions.

Project Management:

  • Responsible for running complex programs and projects. For programs this individual will select, prioritize, link and align the projects\tasks within the program along with their structural dependencies to help achieve optimum benefits of the program. This may include handling tasks that are involved in design and development when necessary.
  • Facilitating and making trade off decisions between quality, costs, resources, scope and time.
  • Undertakes strategy creation for contingency planning and risk mitigation.
  • Responsible for planning and scheduling project goals, milestones and deliverables. Project planning must include an integrated set of milestones and deliverables for business, IT, and third party activities. May include coordinating activities of other project managers, either True Value, contract or third party.
  • Defines requirements and plans the project life cycle deployment.
  • Defines resources for project and program implementation.
  • Identifies and solves project risks and issues effectively.
  • Oversees and directs the project team managing conflicts within different groups.
  • Responsible for developing transition tasks to ensure operational objectives are met after solution deployed including but not limited to Service Level Agreements, Identification of Support Model, Operational Documentation, and Training. Delivers the project and works through remaining tasks to achieve/measure and document benefit for the project.

Project Accounting

  • Creates Project dashboards, including but not limited to tracking and reporting project status, team hours, financial metrics, and risks/issues.
  • Manages project budget.

Position Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have the following skills and experience:

  • Program/Portfolio Management Skills (10+ years)
  • SDLC/PMO Design (2-5 years)
  • COTS/ERP Experience (7-10 years) with at least 5 successful package installations or upgrades
  • Team oversight and development (7+ years)
  • Experience in an outsourced environment (7+ years)
  • Budgetary and P&L Responsibilities (10+ years)
  • Business Relationship Management (10+ years)
  • System/Application¬†Architecture exposure
  • Organizational Design exposure
  • Retail or CPG experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
