Job Description

True Value Company, a global wholesaler serving retail locations in 60 countries, has an immediate need for a Human Resources Director.  Reporting to the Vice-President, HR, the Human Resources Director will be responsible for supporting designated functional groups within the Retail Support Center (Corporate) and Regional Distribution Center locations within the U.S.  As a strategic business partner, the Director ensures the effective execution of organization and people implications in support of key initiatives.  Must be capable of working effectively at the C-Suite and all levels through-out the organization including a large non-exempt associate population. The position must be capable of demonstrating collaboration and partnership with other HR areas including Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition and Talent Management.

Position Description

  • Ensures the effective execution of organization and people implications which support functional strategies and initiatives. Consults with leadership in the development of HR strategies that support business needs
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to the day to day management of associates, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Strong ability to effectively collaborate with HR specialist areas including Total Rewards, Recruitment and Talent Management. Effectively balances support of assigned function needs while understanding the broader company-wide impact and perspective. Consistently demonstrates 'one HR team' mentality
  • Provides day to day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development and disciplinary actions). Assumes the role as 'gate keeper' in monitoring performance management processes
  • Strong ability to manage as well as resolve complex associate relations issues. Oversees and conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations including concise documentation
  • Effectively partners with others in human resources in the execution of HR initiatives and deliverables including talent management/succession planning, career pathing, engagement survey, etc.

Position Qualifications

Minimum Type and Years of Related Experience Required:

  • More than ten years of related experience required
Minimum Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
