Data Scientist Retail
The Data Scientist Retail will play an integral role in the development and deployment of retail management solutions. This role will be focused on products that will increase profitability, optimize gross margin dollars, and improve customer loyalty for True Value retailers. The Data Scientist will work cross functionally across the organization such as Business Analytics, IT, Merchandising, Marketing, Inventory, Sales, and Store Operations.
Responsibilities: (May perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned).
• Develops and implements new methodologies, algorithms and models that will improve how we leverage existing data.
• Manages initiatives that focus on retail pricing and discount engines.
• Defines best practices within our Retail Services team regarding modifying and scaling existing and new solutions.
• Communicates data-driven recommendations in a concise and understandable manner to various internal customers and leadership.
• Collaborates with managers to communicate obstacles and findings to relevant stakeholders to improve decision making and drive retailer performance.
• Leads staff on the analytics and project management.
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required, preferably in an analytics, mathematics, or technology.
• 2-4 years of experience, preferably in Retail, Merchandising, Marketing, Pricing, or similar industry.
• Experience with Python and SQL required. PowerBI experience preferred.
• Demonstrable experience with Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing.
• Experience working with real-world large data sets, from multiple sources, and excellent analytical capabilities.
• Ability to drive projects and activities to successful conclusion, operating with a high sense of urgency.
Licenses & Certifications: Python, SQL, Power BI, or Project Management Certification are preferred.

Work Environment: Generally, works in climate-controlled office environment.
Travel: Travel may vary in length and duration.
