The Supply Planning organization of True Value Company is responsible for the efficient replenishment of product into the True Value Regional Distribution Centers. The primary role of the Supply Planner is to develop a replenishment plan working with the demand planner and product merchant based on sales forecasts, shipment histories, and marketing plans. Development of the replenishment plan requires robust analytical capabilities, deep understanding of total supply chain processes and the ability to collaborate with suppliers, transportation and distribution operations. The supply planner is alos responsible for executing the supply plan by issuing and tracking purchase orders into the True Value Regional Distribution Centers. The position is a key driver in providing industry leading fill rates to customers and managing efficient inventory levels.  

The Supply Planner is entrusted to develop and maintain professional relationships with internal and external supply chain planning partners. This position is charged with making decisions that impact the supply plan and communicating those decisions to stakeholders. The Supply Planner role may also expand to include contributing to special projects and other supply chain and business strategy initiatives. This person is a well-rounded individual who encompasses analytical, communication and leadership skills. They can quickly identify deviations from expected results and other disruptions and are able to promptly resolve any issues.

Work Arrangements
Under normal operating conditions, this role will work to the usual organizational policies and normal practices of the Inventory Planning organization. However, the Supply Planner is notified outside of normal working hours to conduct a task that has critical business.

Position Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (in order of importance):

  • Actively participate in regular communication through collaborating with Merchandising, Suppliers, Distribution and Transportation on buy plans to maximize inbound fill rates and improve inbound efficiencies. 
  • Effectively communicate supply issues with customers through product codes, written and verbal communication. 
  • Develop annual receipt and inventory plans and reconcile annual plans with demand plans; communicate any gaps between the plans and monthly performance and future forecast.
  • Assess the impact of customer changes or significant variances in the deman forecast and recommend appropriate revisions and tactics to the supply plan. 
  • Responsible for assessing market trends and data for incorporation into the Supply forecast and strategy for driving improved supply plan accuracy while supporting the demand plan. 
  • Use and maintain current replenishment planning systems to create the most efficient recommended orders possible using established processes. The Supply Planner will be held accountable to deliver fill rate and inventory KPI's. 
  • Analyze and execute replenishment orders that maximize total margin on promotional pricing. 
  • Determines root cause for supply chain issues and appropriately escalates/engages business partners to resolve issues as quickly and efficient as possible. 
  • Participate in supply chain process improvements related to replenishment activities and collaborate with other Supply planners on best practices related to Supply Planning processes.
  • Work with various cross functional teams on projects such as new product launches, line extensions, product discontinuations, etc. 
  • Demonstrate sound business decision-making, aligned with company goals. 
  • Measure, analyze, and report key process metrics and monitor adherence to key performance indicators. 

Position Qualifications

Work Experience:

  • Three to five years of related experience required
  • JDA Replenishment or equivalent replenishment system experience 
  • Strong analytical skills required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Strong decision making skills required
Minimum Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field or equivalent work experience
