Look no further, True Value is looking for a Director, Human Resources to utilize your experience and thought leadership to drive change and continuous improvement.

Reporting to the SVP HR, the Director, Human Resources will be responsible to support designated functional groups within the Retail Support Center (Corporate) and Regional Distribution Center locations within the U.S. As a strategic business partner, this role contributes to company performance by providing strategic consulting with functional groups on talent, organizational development, needs and design in support of the business objectives. Must be capable of working effectively at the C-Suite and all levels through-out the organization including a large nonexempt associate population. The position must be capable of demonstrating influence, decision making, idea generation, collaboration and partnership within functional groups and other HR areas.

Position Description

Responsibilities (May perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned).

• Provides coaching and leadership on a variety of matters including employee relation issues, performance management, talent management and development, and organizational design consultation.
• Effectively partners with HR leadership to align others in human resources in execution of HR initiatives and deliverables including talent management / succession planning, career pathing, associate relations, engagement, retention, etc. Consistently demonstrates “One HR team” and “One company” mentality.
• Acts as a change agent to support functional groups through process design and approaches that drive change and transformation – striving to align with best practices.
• Strong ability to partner with functional groups to understand the business and provide value-added ideas and solutions. Effectively balances support of assigned function needs while understanding the broader company-wide impact and perspective.
• Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs, initiatives and policies.
• Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements and advises managers on employee and labor policies, related to the day to day management of associates, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Position Qualifications

Education & Experience:

• Contributes to strategic planning, direction, and goal setting for the department or function in collaboration with senior management.
• Establishes departmental policies, practices, and procedures that have a significant impact on the organization.
• Bachelor’s degree preferably in Human Resources or equivalent work experience.
• At least 10 years of experience, preferably in Distribution/Wholesale/Manufacturing industry with people management experience and working with labor unions.
• Outstanding leadership, interpersonal, team-building and communication skills.
• Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

Licenses & Certifications:
• SHRM certification preferred, not required

Travel: Travel may vary in length and duration.
