True Value Company, a global wholesaler serving retail locations in 60 countries, has an immediate need for a Training Specialist in our Wilkes-Barre facility.

The Training Specialist will monitor and administer associate training programs, assess needs and results, provides input for new programs and provides recommendations to modify existing programs. Coordinates employee participation in training programs and manages appropriate documentation.

Position Description

  • Heads training sessions covering specified areas such as those concerned with new employee orientation, job function training, use of computers and software, safety and health practices, material handling equipment certification and refresher training, etc.

  • Creates monthly training calendars and schedules sessions accordingly allowing flexibility and ensuring all OSHA training requirements contained in the matrix provided by EH&S are met.

  • Assesses associates for new hire and rehire training needs, maintains records of training activities, monitors program effectiveness, and recommends improvements. Tracks and reports on associate participation or assessment results.

  • Meets with management to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training for employees to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, and technologies.

  • Coordinates materials and facilities for training sessions, including handouts, supplies, technology, and virtual or physical conference rooms.

  • Develops teaching outline and determines instructional methods, utilizing knowledge of specified training needs and effectiveness of such methods as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, and workshops. May be responsible for assisting others on the use of a Learning Management System (LMS) - ex. TVU Online, Safety Training.

Position Qualifications

Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of related experience

  • Ability to interpret situations not outlines in procedures and escalates policy related issues.

  • Relies upon data, own experiences, other’s perspectives, and a clear process when evaluating when evaluating course of action and making recommendations and decisions.

  • Is required to understand how improving personal efficiency while maintaining quality, impacts the cost-effectiveness of the team.  Also being able to recognize the impact of scope changes and escalates to the appropriate next level of management.

  • Possess and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of a particular field.

  • Supervises the work of other non-exempt associates.

  • Proficiency using MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)

  • Working knowledge of industry specific applications (ex. WMS, voice pick, ELS, SOPs)


Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or a combination of education and work experience
