We have an immediate need for a Director of Pricing. The Director of Pricing will lead the successful development, evaluation and execution of the organization’s wholesale and retail pricing strategies and optimization of pricing policies and procedures in alignment with overall business strategies. They will work closely with key internal and external businesses partners as well as individual retailers. The Director will employ contemporary pricing tools, analysis and guidance to both internal stakeholders and retailers to insure pricing strategies maximize Retailer and Company sales and margin. The Director will forecast the impact of pricing decisions related to the overall business and communicate expectations, profitability, and key pricing metrics. The position requires extensive knowledge of pricing strategies, practices and tools for the retail and wholesale environments. In addition, the position will provide oversight and direction on firm's Strategic Positioning vs. Key Competitors, including Pricing, Fees and overall Offering. Pricing System improvements will be a key responsibility.

Position oversees and manages two Senior Pricing Analysts.

Responsible for generating revenue and profit.

Position Description

Pricing Strategy:
The position leads existing and creates new pricing initiatives that will increase the effectiveness of the company’s and retailers’ wholesale and retail pricing strategies. In partnership with other internal departments, establishes and updates company pricing strategy based on overall business goals. Evaluates the effectiveness of current pricing strategies, recommends new strategies, and tracks the impact and trends over time. Develops pricing performance management and retailer KPIs and reporting structures.

Pricing Processes and Systems:
The Director develops and provides oversight for pricing processes and drives system enhancements and advances. Partners with IT, outside vendors and consultants to continue to upgrade and implement new pricing systems and tools.

Pricing Execution:
Provides actionable, on-going retail and wholesale pricing direction to the merchants/buyers. Insures current wholesale costs and suggested retail costs align with stated pricing strategies. Employs competitive price shops, pricing audits and systematic pricing analysis to create recommended pricing actions that will increase company and retailer sales and margin. Delivers analysis and guidance on retailer charges and fee structure to align with value provided. Provides training for the merchants/buyers on pricing policies, use of pricing tools and current and future pricing programs. Implement transactional pricing excellence.

Retailer Consulting and Support:
Consults with retailers in development of store pricing strategies and best practices that are designed to achieve targeted competitive pricing while maximizing their sales and margin. Performs proactive and reactive pricing programs and price list maintenance functions for retailers, as well as provide ongoing support for margin enhancement programs.

Position Qualifications

Minimum Type and Years of Related Experience Required:

  • More than ten years of relevant Pricing experience required
  • Knowledge and experience in using pricing software, models and programs
  • Retail and wholesale experience required
  • Proficient in Access, Excel, Powerpoint, solid grasp of analytics, metrics, data and statistics
Minimum Education Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Math, or other quantitative discipline preferred or equivalent work experience
