The Benefits Manager is responsible for the design, implementation and management of all health, welfare, retirement wealth accumulation programs. Leads a team of professionals in the delivery and management of all programs and provides superior project management and communication capabilities to the role. Has a vast knowledge of all technical aspects of benefit program administration which may include, but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, supplemental insurance, AD&D, STD, LTD, 401K, commuter benefits, EAP, well-being programs, Cobra and more. Manages vendor relationships to ensure that the company is maximizing the services and support of those relationships.

Position Description

Responsibilities (May perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned).

• Develops, implements and manages all benefit programs and ensures that benefits offerings are optimized while concurrently minimizing expenses.
• Develops and manages all benefits pricing models and manages the overall expense of all benefit offerings. Provides technical expertise and guidance during the course of union negotiations.
• Works with Finance to review the company-wide benefits budget and is flexible to accommodate changes.
• Develops and maintains vendor relations with all providers and consultants, ensuring that vendors are delivering to company standards.
• Provides technical guidance and advice on ERISA matters and all compliance issues.
• Leads auditing efforts of company programs to ensure regulatory compliance, while working with auditors, consultants, and team to achieve satisfactory results.
• Leads a team of professionals in the delivery of all benefits, utilizing state-of-the-art technology. Provides team members with coaching and counseling.
• Acts as the lead for all benefits communication program development

Position Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
• Five to seven years of experience, preferably in Benefits and Human Resources.
• Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
• Experienced in Benefit audit, compliance, regulatory and tax knowledge.
• Well-versed in analytics, communications, leadership, negotiations, and regulations.

Licenses & Certifications

• HR Certification, preferred.
• Project Management Professional (PMP), preferred.

Work Environment: Generally, works in climate-controlled office environment.

Travel: Travel may vary in length and duration.
