The Associate General Counsel provides advice and counsel regarding a broad range of legal matters, with a key emphasis in regulatory. They represent the company at legal proceedings, professional meetings, and/or administrative hearings. They function as subject matter expert in regulatory and other specialized areas of law. They provide legal support to the General Counsel and directly to Senior Team members with General Counsel supervision.

Position Description

Responsibilities (May perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned).

  • With guidance from the Vice President & General Counsel, oversees assigned legal functions for the organization. Implements short/long-term strategies that may impact the organization's legal function and business success.
  • Interprets and prepares legal documents, analyzes proposed and existing legislation, reviews company policies, monitors and ensures legal compliance, and advises management on legal matters to guard the organization against legal liability.
  • Independently responsible for assigned specialized legal area with an emphasis on regulatory.
  • Coordinates legal efforts with the organization's outside counsel.
  • Leads cross-functional teams or projects.

Position Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Juris Doctorate Degree required
  • 6+ years of legal experience or at least 2+ years in an in-house legal environment.
  • Expertise in product regulatory matters a necessary requirement for this position. Expertise in manufacturing and chemical regulatory matters preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Oral and written communication skills. Research skills. Independent judgment. Leadership skills.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Admission to Illinois Bar
